Growing, Growing............GONE!

Lately, i've able to use my camera a lot more than usual. The girls are growing like weeds! I feel like every time i turn around, a new milestone is met in there little lives. Evelyn is so nurturing, shes learning more and more every day. I'm glad she is able to articulate her feelings in such a way that draws me closer to her. We have come across some 'age appropriate' behavior issues recently, but how grateful i am she can help in the resolution of things. Omri.......oh Omri........where do i begin? Such a lovely little being, sometimes i'd just like to slap the cute off of her. Especially when she says " your supposed to be making breakfast" as i jump on the computer too google at 8am. Everyday, i kid you not, i laugh real hard at the things she says. It's hard to believe last yr she had a 5 word vocabulary, and now she can hold conversations with you. My Luna...my little tinky face, i blink once and shes got herself a tooth, i blink twice and there's her second. She i developing into her own little personality and she is just a hoot! the girl is 6 mo old, and isn't crawling yet but oh man can she get around. She had her first taste of a banana this wk, making faces as if to be unsure about what it was, but couldn't help herself to more :) Just amazing these little lives are

Catching Monsters

I finally caught a cold after almost 2 years of great health, how over joyed i was to know it would last a little over a wk *(note sarcasm). Now that i'm functioning at %87 Little did i know, i was about to catch me some children monsters!

My suspicions were high when i woke up this AM with a Flip flop on my pillow, The littelest monster had rolled onto the toddler bed, while one monster had brought a bunch of broken toys to my bed. You know, the hard stuff, bits and pieces, covers, oatmeal containers, spoons, the WORKS! The other monster dancing at the foot of my bed wearing her daddies shoes and banging on a set of make shift drums with a pair of spoons that the younger monster provided. I knew it was about to get ugly, and these monsters meant business. The froth coming out of the mouth of the youngest monster & razor sharp teeth, it squealed! I knew i had to act fast! i considered dousing them in water, but after watching gremlins i knew the last think i'd want is for them to multiply. I scoop up the youngest and quickly search out the rope that cousin Sue had provided me in the months before (i knew it would come in handy).
As soon as i wrangled them the younger monster let our a wretched smell, i could have sworn i saw a ghastly green cloud come from her bum  O.o  They soon settled down a bit after a while i paced the house while trying to figure out why the little one was screeching at me, so i feed her and she bit me! i then contemplated tying her up as well, but if that meant having to unravel the professionals, i was all set.
Soon enough there was silence! no hissing, no smells, no foam or tantrums. They had fallen asleep!
But before i knew it, they were up ! i knew they were in cahoots when they started thinking of a plan, and escaping was their first priority. Though the little one just acted as if she were being strung along. I heard a BANG! and then nothing.........
Its almost as if they scattered like cockroaches! .......................... I begin my hunt steady, but slow.............
Naturally, some one always returns to the scene of the crime, But my search continues for the other..............if you don't hear from me in 24 hrs..............call the squad!

Tinky's got a Tooth !

yes you heard it correct! my Tinky has a Tooth! No, i'm not a first time parent, but you wouldn't be able to tell by the way i rave about my babies. No milestone goes unnoticed in this house, if i wasn't the picture snapping Momma that i am, life wouldn't be the same

I'm happy and sad simultaneously. I feel like it was just last week i was pushing her out, all while whispering in my head, "I'm going to be a mother of 3". It truly is amazing, these little lives and how big they get, all within a blink of an eye. Let me not get off track here, for if i do it might end up  getting cloudy eyes followed by being a blubbering mess.

Luna is 6 months old and 1 day (today).  When done nursing her, she placed my fingers in her mouth and i let her chew. At that point i was able to sweep my finger tips across her gums to feel the 'razor blade', that we call a tooth !
Upon that discovery, i placed her on the floor to play, while i began to sulk under my comforter on the couch. Had ALL my children broken our pact that they  promised me the wouldn't be getting  teeth?
* sigh

Cinderella Milk

What is Cinderella Milk?

I have dubbed my breast milk, *Cinderella Milk, because in a matter of hrs it goes from royalty to rags. Be it 2hrs or 72hrs breast milk takes a turn for the worse for some moms, which can quickly anger a nursing mother. Specifically those who try there hardest to get a mere oz out at a time just to build a stock pile or might be going back to work. (esp knowing breast milk can or is able to be stored in fridge for up to 10 days depending on the mother). Oh boy, what a disappointment it is to thaw out milk and it smells like pennies or old chicken in a trash can on a hot summer day :(
Why does this happen?
Excess lipase in breast milk that is pumped and stored can can give the milk an unpalatable metallic flavor in just a few hours. This is because lipase, an enzyme that aids in the digestion of fats, begins to break down the fat in stored breast milk. The fat contributes to breast milk’s appealing flavor, so when the lipase breaks down the fat before consumption it will give off a slight to strong unappealing taste and or odor. This does not mean your milk has spoiled, and it is safe to consumption.....unless......your child is like mine and wont touch it with a 10 ft pole.
Whats a mom to do?
Scald the milk. Yes, i know it seems harsh but if you want your milk to maintain a delightful taste so that your not pumping and dumping it needs to be done (unless there are other way i just don't know about O.o). Yes it does kill some of the antiinfective properties, but its still breast milk right! (shouldn't be a problem unless your child is soley fed expressed milk.)
How is it done ?
For best results, your going to want to scald breast milk shortly after pumping. Pour breast milk from container into a pan on the stove, turn on high watch for bubbles around the edges of pan. DO NOT BRING TO COMPLETE BOIL. (The milk should be brought to 180 degrees). Once you see the bubbles turn off stove and set the pan on another burner to cool off. Pour into storage container and freeze.

I will be storing my milk this week using the above scalding method
in hopes to save what precious milk i pump
